Looking at a picture... and drawing exactly what you see in that picture is not free hand art.

Looking at a shoreline while the sun is setting and drawing exactly what you see is in fact free hand art.

actually.. i totally hear ya but at the same time would like to point out that for the people that can look at something and can capture it.. that is still talent to be able to portray what you take in from just your eyes... its the people that trace or take other peoples art and add just the tinyest affect, but call it theyre own is the ones that really gotta either step up or re think things...

if you can see something flat... and draw it on to paper.. and keep it original.. not talking toons and comic characters.. or alot of people like that anime shit... if you keep it your own style but use it as an influance then mad props to ya and keep moving your game up... keep stepping your talent up.. then one day you can really capture that sunset on paper of your own .. just keep stepping your talent up..
